Applications in Food Production

Which applications are supported by Klipspringer’s In-Process Monitoring System?

Klipspringer’s In-Process Monitoring System accurately monitors temperature throughout every stage of production and transforms data into one report.

The system features an In-Process Multi-Channel Data Logger that measuresΒ the core temperature of your product and the environmental conditions during each process step, along with the efficiency of your equipment – identifying hot and cold spots.Β

In addition to temperature uniformity surveys, the system can also be used to create HACCP validation reports that prove your product has been chilled at the right temperature, processed correctly, or has received the minimum cook temperature to ensure food safety.

In-Process Monitoring Systems are commonly used to monitor:

Batch and continuous baking ovens

E.g. bread, confectionary, pies, and pizza

Cookers and chillers/freezers (continuous linear or spiral)Β

E.g. poultry, meat, and fish

Continuous deep fat fryersΒ

E.g. breaded products such as sausages and scotch eggsΒ

Batch static and rotating ovens Β

E.g. steaming and roasting of poultry, meat, and vegetables

Equipment Cost and Delivery

How much will the system cost?Β

Klipspringer’s In-Process Monitoring System is bespoke, so prices will vary depending on the specific requirements of your site. During an initial consultation with our Technical Support Team, you will be able to share any expectations or concerns relating to cost. They will then put together a proposal that provides everything you need, without any unexpected or unnecessary expenses. Β

How long will it take for the system to be delivered to my site?Β

As with any bespoke system, the In-Process Multi-Channel Data Logger has a longer lead time than the products we hold in stock for same day despatch. However, this time frame has been significantly reduced byΒ the fact that the system is manufactured and shipped from the UK. As a result, it should arrive at your site within 4-7 weeks. Β

The Durability of your In-Process
Multi-Channel Data Logger

How durable is the In-Process Monitoring System?Β

The data logger itself is protected by a robust, water-resistant, aluminium case. It can then be placed inside a waterproof Thermal Barrier made from food contact approved stainless steel. Β

Our range of Thermal Barriers offer enhanced thermal and mechanical protection – shielding your logger from heat, steam, moisture, and oil. They can withstand exposure to a wide range of equipment, including fryers, steam cookers, chillers, and blast freezers. Β

As for the Thermocouples, they feature stainless steel tipped needles and have been wrapped in stainless steel braid, with PTFE insulation. The standard operating temperature range extends to 265Β°C. However, if you need the system to function at higher temperatures, there are bespoke options available. Β

Thermocouples and Accessories

How many channels/thermocouples are available?Β

There are three options: 6, 10, and 20 thermocouples. Thanks to the number of channels available, the system can be used to monitor the core temperature of your product, the environmental temperature, and the efficiency of your equipment – identifying any cold or hot spots.Β

Is the system compatible with any Type T or Type K thermocouples?Β

Yes, unlike many of the other systems used throughout the food production industry, Klipspringer’s In-Process Monitoring System is compatible with any Type T or Type K thermocouples.Β Β

How do I ensure the system doesn’t move out of position during use?Β Β

Alongside the In Process Monitoring System, we also supply a wide range of accessories. One of the most popular examples is a food tray that holds the data logger in place.Β

This solution features a thermocouple guide that guarantees the penetration of your product and ensures the positioning is consistent. With the help of a food tray, you will also be able to drive standards of efficiency and safety when setting up the logger system on machines such as fryers or conveyor belts.Β Β

What should I do if an operator pulls a probe out of its connector?

A disconnected probe is one of the most common faults associated with In-Process Multi-Channel Data Loggers. With this in mind, The Klipspringer system has been uniquely designed to ensure the fault can be resolved with a quick and easy repair – handled by our in-house laboratory in the UK. It is worth noting that many of the other systems used throughout the food production industry would require a costly replacement.

Data and Software

How do I access the data recorded by my In-Process Monitoring System?Β

There is the option of using two-way wireless RF telemetry to view and evaluate the data in real time. Instead of waiting to find out if your product has been compromised, you will be able to take immediate action to correct any issues with your process. RF telemetry will also allow you to reset the data logger and download data remotely. Β

Alternatively, you have the option of waiting until the end of the production run, at which point the collected data can be transferred to PC for analysis. The system will transform the temperature readings taken throughout every stage of production into one comprehensive report. Β

What software works alongside Klipspringer’s In-Process
Multi-Channel Data Logger?

Klipspringer’s In-Process Multi-Channel Data Logger is compatible with Phoenixβ„’ Thermal View Software, with different packages available for different customer requirements. Β

Using this software, you will be able to produce fully certified and traceable validation reports to meet HACCP requirements, calculate Pasteurisation and Sterilisation values (Pu/Fo), and share accessΒ across multiple departments.Β

Understanding your data will also be easier than ever, as your results will be saved in a database for easy access and clearly displayed on a single screen. Additionally, the software features a multi-column sorting facility for organising results, and there is also the option to split different runs or process steps into separate profiles for closer analysis. Β

Calibration, Repairs, and Ongoing Support

What level of support is provided by Klipspringer’s in-house Technical Team?

Klipspringer’s Technical Team will provide ongoing support and training for you and your operatives. This training can be repeated as many times as necessary and will usually take place over a video call. However, if you think it could be beneficial, there is also the option of arranging a site visit. Β

Does the system come with UKAS calibration?

When ordering the system, you can request an accompanying UKAS (ISO17025) certificate. Β

How long will the calibration process take?Β

Our in-house laboratory can offer a calibration time of just three working days.

Can the Klipspringer Laboratory manage repairs & replacements?

Yes, our in-house laboratory will take care of any repairs or replacements, even supplying loan equipment when necessary.

How long will it take to repair or replace my In-Process Monitoring System?

The lead time will be incredibly short, as replacement parts (e.g. thermocouples) are manufactured and despatched from the UK.
