An update on Klipspringer's Culture of Sustainability, highlighting the recent changes we have made to reduce our impact on the environment and achieveour sustainability goals.

When it comes to sustainability, the principles of consistency and accountability are key. That is why we wanted to provide an update on our recent efforts in this area.

At the centre of this update will be Klipspringer’s move to a new headquarters, with this change of premises presenting the perfect opportunity to assess and enhance our processes.

From LED lighting to improved insulation, we are proud of the progress made so far. We are also committed to continuous improvement; determined to uphold our sustainability principles and further embrace our corporate social responsibility.

LED Lighting

Whilst our previous premises relied on a combination of standard and LED lights, the move to our new headquarters has allowed us to complete the switch to LED lighting.

As a result, we now have a light source that offers the following environmental benefits:

  • Free from toxic elements
  • Requires fewer light fixtures
  • Longer lifespan, so fewer replacements
  • Ensures minimal heat loss
  • Provides cool light to benefit plant growth
  • 100% recyclable
  • Up to 80% more energy efficient

Improved Insulation

In addition to our LED lighting project, we have also installed a new and improved roof across the length of our in-house Distribution Centre and central office space.

An enhanced source of insulation, the roof has already resulted in a substantial reduction to the building’s overall requirements for heating and cooling.

This reduction has also been achieved thanks to the thermally efficient external wall cladding we have added to the outside of the office and laboratory.

The switch from Gas to Electric

Another point to note is that we have now made the switch from gas to electric energy. This was a high priority in terms of our sustainability goals, as burning gas for energy results in carbon dioxide, the most significant greenhouse gas. Gas is also a fossil fuel, so cannot be replaced once extracted.

What’s more, we are pleased to be working with an energy provider that has committed to becoming a net zero business by 2045. Our provider has also committed to using a mixture of carbon-free innovations to help its customers achieve net zero status by 2050.

Waste Reduction

Last but not least, we have continued our efforts to reduce waste across every aspect of the business. A prime example of this is our move towards online processing and the subsequent reduction of paper usage.

Another example is the introduction of a new UV-cured coating method for our SegriStore shadow boards. Not only does this method eliminate the risk of peeling shadows and ensure our boards are more durable than ever, it is also the more sustainable choice – reducing the waste of single-use plastic that is often associated with laminate alternatives.

That brings us to the end of our latest Sustainability Update. As we continue to make progress in this area, we will be sure to uphold this level of honesty and transparency.Β

As always, we encourage you to engage with the aspects of our operation that support your own environmental goals and to hold us accountable at every turn.
