Puratos

Fitting out a new facility withShadow Board Storage Solutions

Puratos was relocating manufacturing from its Liverpool facility to a new site in Buckingham. The project involved refurbishing an existing factory while also developing a brand-new production facility from the ground up.

The Challenge: Setting Up a New Production Facility

With production moving into a brand-new factory, Puratos needed to review and define the requirements for its new processes before operations began.

Getting these foundations right was critical to supporting efficient workflows, maintaining product quality, and creating a manufacturing environment capable of meeting future production demands.

Puratos is an international manufacturer of innovative ingredients and solutions for the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate sectors.

Serving customers in over 100 countries, the business combines global expertise with local manufacturing to support artisans, industrial producers, retailers, and food service companies.

The Solution: Customised Shadow Board Solutions

Klipspringer supplied a range of customised shadow board solutions that feature designated shadows for each piece of equipment.

The boards are also colour-coded with bespoke headers and equipment instructions, supporting clear segregation between different zones and equipment types, such as allergen spillage, general food contact, and floor contact equipment.

Klipspringer supported the project with site visits and regular check-ins, ensuring they stayed up to speed with progress. They were able to make recommendations based on what had worked in similar production environments, sharing best practice and ideas so Puratos could avoid unnecessary guesswork.

The Results: Organisation, Ownership, and a Growing 5S Culture

Since introducing shadow board storage solutions, Puratos has seen a marked improvement in site organisation. Equipment now has a designated home, making it easier for teams to keep the space tidy.

Another benefit is that 5S is now front of mind. What began as shadow boards for hygiene and production equipment has since expanded into a wider project, including Visual Management boards and instrument stations for thermometers.

Overall, the Puratos team has found that having the right tools to hand has made cleaning and day-to-day production noticeably easier, supporting a more efficient and organised working environment.

“Partnering with Klipspringer has been a positive experience. The team is always professional and helpful, and have great advice to offer. Being able to work with a company that understands the food industry and its specific needs has been invaluable.”
