How to Use a LAQUAtwin Pocket Meter

Our range of LAQUAtwin Pocket Meters allow your operatives to carry out on-the-spot testing of samples at any time and from any location.

The only pocket meters to feature flat sensor technology, the devices within this range can be used to detect: pH, Conductivity, Salinity, Sodium Ion (Na+), Potassium Ion (K+), Calcium Ion (Ca2+), and Nitrates.

In this Help Guide, you will find instructions for the six different testing methods available. You will also find a quick run down of how to read your results.

How do you use your LAQUAtwin Pocket Meter to collect a sample?

Depending on the type of substance being tested, you will need to select one of the six sampling methods available:

Immersion

  1. Transfer a sample of the substance being tested into a beaker.
  2. Ensure the sensor guard sliding cap is open.
  3. Immerse the end of your LAQUAtwin pocket meter into the liquid.
  4. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

Scoop

  1. Angle the LAQUAtwin pocket meter so it acts as a scoop, collecting your liquid sample directly from the substance being tested.
  2. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

Drops

  1. Using a pipette, place a drop of the sample onto the sensor. LAQUAtwin meters can measure volumes as low as 0.05ml.
  2. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

Solid Samples

  1. If the solid sample contains at least some moisture, it can be placed directly onto the sensor without the need for lubrication.
  2. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

Paper and Textiles

  1. Cut up the sample into small pieces.
  2. Place the cutting directly onto the sensor of the LAQUAtwin pocket meter.
  3. Using a pipette, drop on your defined volume of pure water.
  4. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

Powders

  1. Carefully place the dry powder sample directly onto the sensor.
  2. Using a pipette, drop on your defined volume of pure water.
  3. Your measurement will appear on the screen of the pocket meter.

How do you calibrate your LAQUAtwin Pocket Meter?

1. Make sure the sensor is clean.

2. Using the pH 7 Buffer Solution in your LAQUAtwin pocket meter kit, place a couple of drops onto the sensor of the meter.

3. Press the calibration button and wait for the smiley face to appear. Once this happens, the calibration is coplete.

4. Wash off the Buffer Solution with pure water.

5. Dry the sensor with a soft, clean tissue.

If there is an issue with your LAQUAtwin pocket meter, it is possible that the sensor needs to be replaced. This will typically happen after around 1,500 measurements have been carried out.
