Klipspringer launches a new range of Laboratory Incubators, supporting Environmental Testing for E. coli and Listeria.
Following the launch of our Environmental Testing Kits for Listeria and E. coli, we are excited to announce the launch of our new range of Testing Accessories, featuring a dedicated Test Tube Rack and four different models of Laboratory Incubators.
These brand-new incubators offer a wide range of benefits:
- Natural Convection Incubators with advanced heating systems
- Your choice of Single or Multi-Step programmes
- Capacity options of 16 L, 35 L, 55 L, or 120 L
- Safe Temperature Function, allowing you to set a working temperature limit
- Stainless steel chamber with rounded corners, anti-tip supports, and removable shelves
Our Laboratory Incubators have also been separated into the categories of PLUS and SUPER, with the SUPER incubators offering the added benefits of a 4-inch colour touchscreen display, a Temperature Ramp function, and the option to download data via USB.
In the following article, we will run through the important features of each model.
Heating Times and Temperature Uniformity
When it comes to heating a test sample, consistency of temperature is key.
That is why the eight incubators within the Klipspringer range feature an advanced heating system that ensures excellent temperature uniformity, low power consumption, and minimal heating times:
- ICN 16 PLUS (37Β°C): 18 minutes
- ICN 35 PLUS (37Β°C): 22 minutes
- ICN 55 PLUS (37Β°C): 25 minutes
- ICN 120 PLUS (37Β°C): 25 minutes
- ICN 16 SUPER (37Β°C): 18 minutes
- ICN 35 SUPER (37Β°C): 22 minutes
- ICN 55 SUPER (37Β°C): 22 minutes
- ICN 120 SUPER (37Β°C): 30 minutes

The ICN Klipspringer Incubators also have a large observation window on the front door, in addition to a Γ 5.5 mm passage hole on the top for the insertion of external sensors. These features support the monitoring, control, and validation of temperature throughout the incubation process – all without heat loss.Β
The ICN 16, 35, 55 and 120 PLUS, along with the ICN 16, 35, 55 and 120 SUPER have a working temperature range of +5Β°C … +70Β°C. However, thanks to the Safe Temperature Function, your operatives will have even greater control over the temperature parameters, as this function allows the user to set a working temperature limit – ensuring samples are never heated beyond the pre-determined temperature.
If this does occur, Visual and Acoustic Alarms will be triggered, alerting your operatives to the situation and allowing them to resolve the issue before a sample is compromised.Β
Your operatives will also be able to control the heating cycle using the Delayed Start Function.
If this function is selected, the incubator will only begin to heat the sample after a set period of time.
Size, Strength, and Special Features
The Laboratory Incubators within the Klipspringer range have been designed with ease-of-use in mind. The ICN models all feature anti-tip supports and steel grid shelves that can be removed for easy-cleaning – saving your operatives time and hassle.
Our incubators are also incredibly durable, featuring Stainless steel chambers with rounded corners. Rounded corners are less prone to damage than square alternatives, they also help to reduce the risk of operator injury. As for Stainless steel, this material is corrosion resistant and easy-to-clean. It also performs well in high-temperature environments.

Other features include a backlit LED display that will make it easier for your operatives to monitor and record key information. Using this display, your team will be able to monitor all operating parameters. Instead of switching between screens and potentially missing an important update, they will be able to see everything they need at a glance.
To support the specific requirements of your food production site, the Klipspringer range of Laboratory Incubators are available in different sizes:
ICN 16 PLUS & SUPER
External Dimensions:Β 530 x 450 x 370mm
Internal Dimensions:Β 270 x 255 x 230mm
ICN 35 PLUS & SUPER
External Dimensions:Β 620 x 510 x 440mm
Internal Dimensions: 360 x 320 x 300mm
ICN 55 PLUS & SUPER
External Dimensions:Β 660 x 600 x 500mm
Internal Dimensions: 400 x 385 x 360mm
ICN 120 PLUS & SUPER
External Dimensions:Β 780 x 700 x 610mm
Internal Dimensions: 520 x 500 x 460mm
Additional Features of the ICN SUPER
The ICN SUPER Laboratory Incubators offer a number of additional benefits. First, they feature a 4-inch colour touchscreen display. This allows for faster operation and improved user experience.
Second, operatives will be able to download data via USB. This could help your team to move away from manual checklists which are time-consuming and leave your results open to human error. In contrast, the SUPER Incubators offer a reliable approach to data collection and will even produce graphical displays of temperature trends.
Other features include a Temperature Ramp Function for specialised applications and a Multi-user Management System with three levels of authorisation.

Incubation Programmes
When deciding between the ICN PLUS and the ICN SUPER, another area to consider is the range of programmes offered by each model.
All eight devices offer a choice of single-step or multi-step programmes, but the number of
multi-step programmes differs from incubator to incubator.

ICN 16 PLUS
Single- step programme or 7 multi-step programmes with 10 steps each.

ICN 16 SUPER
Single- step programme or 8 multi-step programmes with 8 steps each.

ICN 35 PLUS
Single- step programme or 7 multi-step programmes with 10 steps each.

ICN 35 SUPER
Single- step programme or 9 multi-step programmes with 8 steps each.

ICN 55 & 120 PLUS
Single- step programme or 8 multi-step programmes with 8 steps each.

ICN 55 & 120 SUPER
Single- step programme or 8 multi-step programmes with 8 steps each.
