A guide to the WatchmanOne Hardware, covering everything from mounting your sensors to replacing your damaged probes.

WatchmanOne is the food industry’s leading system for real-time monitoring – helping sites to ensure complete visibility, stock protection, and audit compliance.

If you have chosen this system for your site and would like to understand more about its hardware, this guide will cover the following areas of interest:

WatchmanOne – Unboxing and Overview

The following video provides a brief overview of the WatchmanOne System and its components. You will also discover our top tips for mounting the sensors to the walls of your factory.

Tips for mounting your WatchmanOne sensors

1. The first tip is to use Washdown Waterproof Housing to protect your equipment. When placed inside this housing, your transmitter and probe will be guarded against any chemical or water damage. This is especially important if regular washdowns are being carried out near the sensors.

2. We would normally recommend mounting your sensors about two thirds of the way up your factory wall. Make sure they are as near as possible to the storage location of your product. The sensors should also be out of the way of moving people, parts, and vehicles (e.g. forklifts).

3. Your sensors shouldn’t be placed in the direct line of airflow from a compressor or condenser. Otherwise, it is possible that they will collect inaccurate data.

Connecting Repeaters, Transmitters and Sensors to the WatchmanOne System

The following video will take your through the process of connecting your repeaters, transmitters and sensors to the WatchmanOne System:

Connecting your Hardware to the WatchmanOne System

Finding the IP address: click the ‘INFO’ button on the base unit.

Changing the IP settings: click the ‘SET-UP’ button on the base unit. Enter your username and password. Click the ‘IP’ button, then ‘CHANGE’. Choose from the three options available.

Accessing the WatchmanOne web portal: copy the IP address into your browser. Login using the default username and password.

Adding a device: in the web portal, click ‘SETTINGS’ in the top navigation bar, then ‘ADD DEVICE’. Give your device a reference number, name, and sensor type.

Pairing the transmitter to the base station: click the link icon, then ‘JOIN TRANSMITTER’. Once the countdown is complete, press and hold the button until you see a green light. This light will flash while the transmitter is paired. Make sure you are in close proximity to the base station.

Connecting the probe: check that the serial number showing on the web portal is the same as the one on the probe itself. Select the probe from the list of available sensors, then click ‘LINK SENSOR’.

Sensor Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Our third video offers a closer look at sensor maintenance and troubleshooting, helping you to resolve potential faults such as probe damage and sensor failure:

Potential Faults and How to Resolve Them

1. A sensor isn’t producing any readings. The first step is to check the batteries. Find the transmitter, bring it close to the base station, then press the button on the side of the unit until a green light flashes. If the light doesn’t flash, unclip the plate on the back of the unit, replace the batteries, then click the plate back in place.

Try pressing the button again. If the light flashes twice, the issue has been resolved and the transmitter is communicating with the base station or the nearest repeater. If it flashes once, it has power, but needs to be connected to the base station (see second video). If it doesn’t flash at all, it may need to be returned to Klipspringer HQ for further investigation.

The video above explains this process in full. It also shows how to replace the batteries if your system has the previous style of housing.

2. A probe is damaged. Remove the plate on the back of the housing and unclip the probe. Clip in the replacement probe, ensuring the waterproof compression gland is in line with the waterproof seal. Return the back plate, listening for the click that indicates it has been closed correctly.
