A step-by-step guide to calibrating your Klipspringer Conductivity Pocket Testers. Plus, everything you need to know about taking accurate measurements.

Conductivity can affect the taste, texture, and shelf life of a food or drink product. That is why teams across the industry are using Conductivity meters to ensure their output is safe and consistent.

To provide support in this area, we have developed a help guide for working with our own range of Conductivity Pocket Testers.

Featuring your choice of video and written instructions, it will take you through the process of calibrating, then using these pocket-size devices.

Calibrating your Conductivity Pocket Tester

It is important that you calibrate your Conductivity Pocket Tester before each use. You will need to calibrate it against the relevant Standard Solutions, for most sites this will be 1413 and 12.88.

1. Your Conductivity Pocket Tester is supplied with a cap containing Storage Solution to protect the probe and extend its lifespan. Remove this cap.

2. Press the on/off button to turn on your Conductivity Pocket Tester.

3. Pour the 1413 Standard Solution into a beaker. Place the probe directly into the Standard Solution and hold steady, no stirring is needed.

4. Press the calibrate button and wait for the device to stabilise. You will know the device has stabilised when a smiley face appears on the screen.

5. Press the β€˜CAL’ button and wait for the device to sync.Β

6. Remove the probe from the Standard Solution, rinse with distilled water, then gently pat dry.

7. Pour the 12.88 Standard Solution into a beaker. Place the probe directly into the second solution and repeat steps 4-6.Β

NOTE: Instead of pouring your Standard Solutions into beakers, another option is to use our innovativeΒ Easy-Dose Bottles. This will allow you to save on time and clean-up.Β

Using your Conductivity Pocket Tester

Before using your Conductivity Pocket Tester, you will need to calibrate the device. To do this, follow the calibration steps listed above.

1. Place the probe directly into your sample and hold steady, no stirring is needed.

2. The measurement is complete once the reading stabilises on the screen.

NOTE: To avoid damaging the components of your Conductivity Pocket Tester, only allow the tip of the device to touch the sample.

3. Remove the probe from the sample, rinse with distilled water, then gently pat dry.

4. Replace the protective cap and return your Pocket Tester to its case for safe storage.

Our Electrochemical Analysis range features pocket testers for pH, ORP, and Conductivity. There are also multi-parameter testers available.
